New Year’s Eve is a special and exciting time down in the Turks. If you like grand celebrations, the Turks & Caicos Islands is the place to be. Not only are you ringing in a whole new year, but you are celebrating and partying with like-minded people in paradise.
So what does New Year’s Eve look like in TCI?? Well, there’s certainly lots to do. Firstly, there’s a big beach bonfire at popular local hangout The Flamingo Cafe. Owned by locals, this vibrant bright yellow restaurant offers traditional Turks & Caicos food, such as delicious conch fritters and rum punch. There will also be dancing on the deck at Hemingways and several of the gourmet restaurants in town will have fixed-price menus that include special treats, champagne and party favors. Shortly after dinner, you will hear the beautiful gonging of church bells as the island tradition of Old Year’s Night begins. Late into the night, the mostly Catholic island dwellers will be attending church services and the church bells will ring out, bringing good luck into the new year.

Finally, at midnight many of the resorts that line Grace Bay Beach will set off fireworks.  This beautiful display of colorful lights over the ocean is the best way to ring in the new year down here in tropical paradise.
